The Bonsecours Market, acknowledged as one of Canada's finest heritage buildings, the Market has become an essential stop on any visit to Old Montreal.  The Market houses 15 boutiques featuring top-quality Quebec creations.

The mission of the Montreal Science Centre is to help visitors of all ages acquire an understanding of science and technology for use in building their future. The Science Center includes an IMAX theatre, a museum and reception rooms.

Pointe-à-Callière Archaeology Museum makes a connection between the past, present and future.  The Museum rises above the birthplace of Montréal, and reveals authentic archaeological remains along an intriguing underground tour route.

Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art.  A major Canadian institution dedicated exclusively to contemporary art, the museum offers a varied program ranging from presentations of its Permanent Collection to exhibitions of works by Québec, Canadian and international artists.

Bell Centre, since its inauguration in 1996 under the name Molson Centre, the Bell Centre remains the centre stage for entertainment and business events in Montreal. It is the home of the Montreal Canadiens.

The Underground City, the most famous aspect of shopping in Montreal is the Underground City, directly under the heart of the city, 19 miles long. Constantly growing, the "city" - which links many major buildings and multi-level shopping malls in the area - is a shopper's paradise in any season.

Calèche (horse-drawn carriage) tours lasting 30 minutes ($53, taxes included) or 60 minutes ($85, taxes included) are available. A calèche can accommodate from 3 to 5 people. Tours depart from:

            De la Commune Street, near Place Jacques-Cartier;
            Place D'Youville, near the Pointe-à-Callière Museum

Rafting, hold on to your paddle as your raft plunges through the largest foam capped waves of the Lachine Rapids! Ride this natural roller coaster and encounter rapids such as Big John, Devils Drop and Louis Leap.

Jet Boating, this amazing and unforgettable adventure begins at the head of the Lachine rapids. Climb aboard our specially designed Jet Boats, capable of ascending the large volume rapids and shallow waters of the Lachine Rapids.

Bike Rentals, established in 1995, the Montreal on Wheels bike shop is the largest bike rental center in Montréal, Québec. We offer a range of 150 bikes and accessories to rent: multiple types of bikes ("hybrid-comfort", road bikes, reconditioned and "cruiser"), tandems, children's bicycles, trailers for bikes and Trail-a-bikes. We also offer in-line skate rentals.

Ice Skating (Winter Season), right on the Old Port, near Old Montreal's picturesque de la Commune Street, the Bonsecours Basin outdoor skating rink ranks high in flash and visual value and is a great place to bring a date, friends from out of town as well as the whole family.

(4) Is there a nice place for jogging close to the Hotel?

Jogging trails:

Old Port of Montreal - A veritable four-season playground for those who like to push it to the limit, the Old Port of Montréal and the Parc Jean-Drapeau welcome hordes of skaters, runners and cyclists all year long. 

Mount Royal - Day and evening, an impressive expanse of green known as Mount Royal offers kilometre upon kilometre of superb jogging trails. Beginning at dawn, hikers and sports aficionados flock to the mountain for a dose of fresh, cool air. The mountain is indeed a favourite with the city centre working crowd who love to work out in the natural surroundings at lunch time.


(5) Is there a hair salon in the Hotel?

Although the Hotel does not have a hair salon, there are several excellent salons within a 2-3 minute walk from the Hotel.


(6) Are there car rental companies that can drop-off a vehicle directly at Le St-James?

Car rental companies do not normally drop off cars at hotels in the Montreal area.  Our concierge team can nonetheless make it happen because you are a client of Hotel Le St-James.
